We were engaged to design and fabricate custom rectangular HDPE tanks for a paddle steamer, ensuring they met the specific spatial constraints and operational requirements of the vessel. The tanks were engineered to withstand hydrostatic pressure and mechanical stresses, making them suitable for long-term use in a marine environment.
Scope of Work
-
Finite element analysis (FEA) designed to operate at 2.5 kPa (2.5m head).
-
30mm wall thickness for structural integrity and durability.
-
Internal baffle system to control fluid movement and improve stability.
-
Internal steel stiffening, fully encased in HDPE to prevent corrosion.
-
Engineered manhole access points for maintenance and inspection.
Outcome
The final tanks provided a strong, lightweight, and corrosion-resistant solution, custom-built to fit within the confined space of the paddle steamer. The combination of FEA-validated design, internal reinforcement, and precision fabrication ensures long-term reliability and performance in demanding marine conditions.
